International Photo Contest – Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image

The ‘Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image’ is a yearly photography contest and exhibition. It seeks to recognize the very best yacht racing image taken during the year, and that which best represents the essence and excitement of yacht racing as a sport. Created in 2010, the Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image is the leading photography competition dedicated to sailing as a competitive sport, honoring the most beautiful photographs taken during the year. These must reflect the essence, aesthetics and dynamism of the sport.

Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image 2018 officially launched.

149 photographers spanning 25 countries participated in the 2016 edition of the Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image. Jean-Marie Liot, from France, won the main award, whilst the delegates from the Yacht Racing Forum and World Sailing’s annual conference chose Nico Martinez’s photograph for the Yacht Racing Forum award. Christophe Huchet won the public award, based on the votes on Facebook.

137 photographers representing 27 nations submitted an image for the Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image 2017 competition. More than 20,000 people voted for their favourite image, while 2.2 million pages were viewed on the event’s website.

The Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image has recognized seven photographers since it was founded: Thierry Martinez, France (2010 and 2011); Kurt Arrigo, Malta (2012); Abner Kingman, United States (2013); Alfred Farré, Spain (2014), Nikos Zagas, Greece (2015), Jean-Marie Liot, France (2016) and Sören Hese, Germany (2017). Since it was founded in 2007, the Yacht Racing Forum has become a leading annual meet-up for top-level players in the competitive sailing arena. Mirabaud supported the event the first two times it was held. This successful collaboration continues today within the scope of the Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image.
