Sailing Hemisphere – The Largest Catamaran In The World

The world’s largest catamaran is so big it has its own trampoline and Jacuzzi! Those who want the trappings of a super-yacht with the feeling of being on a wind-powered vessel should look no further than Hemisphere, the largest sailing catamaran in the world. Designed and produced by Pendennis Shipyard, Hemisphere sits at over 44 meters (145 feet) long, or just under half a football field, and measures almost 17 meters (54.5 feet) across. Inside, the yacht can house up to 12 guests with two identical master suites along with multiple other bedrooms, all of which are stored in the boat’s hull.

The layout of the boat is simple: there is a bottom deck, which includes bedrooms for both guests and staff; a middle deck which houses the vast seating area; and a top deck which houses the Jacuzzi and tanning areas. Keeping the bedrooms in the hull means there is far more space for seating or eating areas, which helps the Hemisphere feel twice as big. The yacht isn’t available to purchase, but it can be chartered for around $280,000 (£185,000) a week. The price includes access to the extensive water sports facilities and a full crew of 10, some of who are certified diving instructors.

The Hemisphere is powered by two 490 horsepower engines which can achieve a top speed of around 20 knots (23 mph). However, a cruising speed of 11 knots (12 mph) is recommended for comfort. While Hemisphere can sleep 12, the capacity for entertaining is almost endless. Beyond the sofas and seating areas, the yacht comes with a speaker system that can play in any area, giant TVs, and WiFi. The Hemisphere is larger than the average house standing at around eight meters from the water to the top level. Due to a relatively small draft height (the distance from the bottom of the hull to the waterline) of three meters, the yacht can be taken through shallower waters than most other giant vessels. Because the Hemisphere is a catamaran, it has an unusual feature: there is a 4.8-meter trampoline on the front which can also double as a calm place to relax, suspended above the water.
