A coastal town in west Turkey that spans across an area of 260 sq km and comprising of a modest population of 40,000 has a new reason to celebrate. Turkey’s Cesme Marina has been named ‘Best Tourism Investment’ at this year’s Izmir Tourism Awards. Cesme Marina won “Best Tourism Investment” as decided by the judging panel of tourism professionals. The award was one of eighteen presented on the night including; Best Tourism Management, Best Tourism Journalism, Best Tourism Professional, Best Travel Agency, and Special Mansions. The awards bring authorities, organizations and volunteers together who have contributed to the region’s tourism through various activities during Tourism Week which aims to increase awareness of tourism in the region.
The award, presented to Cesme’s general manager Kemal Saatcioglu on behalf of Izmir’s Department of Culture and Tourism, follows the company’s victory at the 2011 Real Estate Awards and its win as ‘Best Marina of the Year’ at the Golden Anchor awards, organized by Turkish newspaper Dünya and the Deniz News Agency.
